More Minnesotans are avoiding second-hand smoke

The number of Minnesotans exposed to second hand smoke dropped to a record low. Surveys say that since the smoking ban in 2007, more people prohibit smoking in their homes. I think that's a great thing! I'm happy that they banned smoking indoors in 2007, even though you could only smoke at bars in restaurants, you could still smell the smoke, and who wants to smell that while they're eating? It's a horrible smell to have on your clothes too. I don't get why people smoke anyways, it causes all types of problems... it's really pointless? What makes a person even want to try it? Why would someone found a company that sells a product that is hazardous to human beings? Is that what we've come to? putting our fellow man in danger to make money? It's sad...

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan was charged with grand theft for stealing a $2,500 necklace. That's soooo stupid! Aren't you rich? Why would you steal? She deserves to be put in jail this time because the law has given her too many chances. Like, she got caught doing drugs, driving drunk... what more proof do you need? Just because she's a celebrity doesn't make her abouve the law, lock her up and throw away the key already!

Notes On News

NOTES ON NEWS

Define “Broadcast Journalism” in 1-3 sentences.
I think Broadcast Journalism is broadcasting a story to people. Broadcasting is to (to me) informing people through Tv, internet, or radio. Like, it's what news anchors do. They research a story, usually current events and tell the viewers about it on Tv, radio, or internet.

List and describe the six criteria of newsworthiness.

TITLE DESCRIPTION EXAMPLE
1. Unsualness: News is the different, the unusual, the out of the ordinary.

  • Example: Church roof collapses.
2. Significance: Important events, ones that affect many people, are news.
  • Example: Elections.

3. Timeliness: Old news isn't news, it's history.

  • Example: Black history month in Febuary.

4. Proximity: People want to know about nearby events.

  • Example: Store shuts down or something.

5. Prominence: When well-known people, places, or buildings are involved

  • Example: Lindsay Lohan gets arrested.

6. Human Interest: Ordinary people, ordinary animals, humorous or dramatic.

  • Example: Fireman saves cat.

What are the differences between print journalism and broadcast journalism?
1.

2.

3.

Reporters Attacked .

Journalists are being attacked in Egypt . The purpose is to "pull cover over what's happening and create fear in other reporters". I think that it's a bad way to hide what's going on because if you hurt a reporter, don't you think they'd tell someone why they were hurt? or maybe they think that since they were hurt, they won't talk about it again out of fear, or they'd scare any other reporter that they tell or hears about it.

Egypt.

I think things in Egypt are really getting out of hand. It's sad to see other human beings to this to each other. Now They are attacking the journalists in Cairo. They're fighting for what they believe in but people are killing each other to prove a point. I think they're trying to get their point across to the rest of the world. They wanna shouw us (The U.S.) that they're not gonna stop protesting until this guy is out of office, as soon as possible. even though he won't be running for another term, the people of Egypt have had enough of his so called "Democracy".
